The Tiger Bus Arrives

The Tiger Bus Arrives is a project lead by the three women of Tigerstadsteatret: director Hilde Brinchman, producer Wenche Victorsdatter Paulsen and writer and director Toril Solvang. They’ve created a theatre where the goal is to give children and youth stories told from their own perspectives. To achieve this they do a lot of interviews with children on different subjects and let the children contribute to the shows in other ways as well. The Tiger Bus is a huge semi trailer painted and formed (the side of the bus opens like a tigers mouth and this is where the kids enter) as a tiger and it has three stages in it’s belly. It’s a design meant to make theatre reach children in places where they might not go that often to the theatre because of the socioeconomic situation, culture or just plain geography. The Tiger Bus itself has it’s own origin story about how a real tiger on the run from adult hunters became a bus to be able to disappear and blend in in the city.
